Cookie Policy
Every cookie this site sets, what it does, how long it lasts, and how to refuse the ones that are optional.
A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep. Some are what make a site work at all — they are how the server knows that the person loading this page is the one who signed in a moment ago. Others exist to measure how the site is used.
This page lists every cookie CodeMetrix sets, what each one does, how long it lasts, and how to refuse the ones that are optional. It sits alongside our Privacy Notice, which covers personal data more broadly.
1. Your choice
We put cookies into two groups, and we treat them differently.
- Strictly necessary cookies are set without asking, because the site cannot function without them. They keep you signed in and stop forged form submissions. Refusing them would mean refusing to sign in.
- Analytics cookies are set only if you agree. Until you choose, they are not set at all.
How to choose. The first time you visit, a banner asks whether analytics cookies are alright. Nothing analytics-related loads until you answer, and choosing "Only necessary" means the Google Analytics script is never fetched — not loaded-and-ignored, but never requested. You can change your mind at any time from the Cookie settings link in the footer.
We record your choice so we can honour it and so we can show, if asked, that we did. That record holds the choice, when it was made and the version of the notice that was on screen — not your name.
2. Strictly necessary cookies
These are first-party cookies, set by this site. They carry no advertising identifier and are not shared with anyone.
| Name | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|
sessionid |
Keeps you signed in and remembers where you were in a form or a lesson. Without it, every page load would look like a stranger arriving. | 2 weeks, or when you sign out |
csrftoken |
Proves a form was submitted from our page and not from a hostile site acting as you. This is the cookie that stops someone enrolling, paying or changing your password on your behalf. | 1 year |
cm_cookie_consent |
Remembers the choice you made about analytics, so the banner stops asking. Holds nothing but that answer and its date. | 6 months |
sessionid and csrftoken are marked
HttpOnly, which means scripts running on the page cannot read
them, and Secure, which means the browser will only send them
over HTTPS.
3. Analytics cookies
These are set by Google Analytics 4, and only after you agree. We use them to see which pages are worth keeping and which parts of a course people abandon.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga |
Distinguishes one browser from another so a repeat visit is not counted as a new person. | 2 years | |
_ga_<id> |
Holds the state of the current visit for the specific analytics property. | 2 years |
Google acts as our processor for this and is named in the sub-processor table in our Privacy Notice, which also explains that analytics data is processed outside India. We do not use Google Analytics for advertising, we have not enabled Google Signals or ad personalisation, and we do not run advertising, retargeting or social-media tracking cookies of any kind.
4. What we do not use
To be explicit, because most cookie policies are vague about this: there are no advertising cookies on this site, no retargeting pixels, no Meta or LinkedIn conversion tags, no session-recording or heatmap tools, and no cross-site tracking. If that ever changes, this page changes first and the banner will ask you again.
5. Embedded content
Some lessons embed video from third-party players. An embedded player can set its own cookies once it loads, under that provider's policy rather than ours. Where we can, we use privacy-preserving embed modes that defer this until you press play.
6. Changing or removing cookies
Use the Cookie settings link in the footer to change your analytics choice at any time. Withdrawing is as easy as giving it — one click, taking effect on the next page load.
You can also clear or block cookies in your browser. Every major browser has this under Settings → Privacy. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop you signing in, which is a limitation of how the web works rather than a choice we made.
Browser-level tracking protection, private browsing and extensions that block trackers all work on this site, and we do not try to detect or defeat them.
7. Questions
Anything about cookies or tracking, write to codemetrix1@gmail.com and our Grievance Officer will answer, within 30 days at the latest.
