About this internship

System Architecture & Database Design

  • Database Schema Engineering: Designing relational database schemas (using PostgreSQL/MySQL if choosing Django/Node) or non-relational document models (using MongoDB if choosing a Node/MERN stack). They will map out entity relationships (e.g., User, Product, Order) with proper primary and foreign keys.
  • System Layout Mapping: Drafting component hierarchies for the React frontend and designing the API routing architecture (RESTful endpoints or GraphQL mutations) for the backend.

Frontend Engineering (React.js)

  • Component Development: Building responsive, modular UI elements using React, utilizing functional components and modern styling libraries (like Tailwind CSS, Material UI, or Shadcn UI).
  • State Management: Implementing client-side state management using React Context API or Redux Toolkit/Zustand to handle complex user data, cart states, or UI settings across the app.
  • Routing & Navigation: Setting up dynamic, client-side routing using React Router, ensuring seamless page transitions without page reloads.
  • API Integration: Connecting the frontend to the backend using Axios or the Fetch API to send user inputs, retrieve server data, and handle loading/error states gracefully.

Backend Engineering (Node.js/Express or Django)

  • If choosing Node.js (Express): Building a lightweight, asynchronous JavaScript server using Express.js, setting up custom middlewares for logging, error handling, and requests parsing.
  • If choosing Django: Setting up a robust, batteries-included Python framework utilizing Django REST Framework (DRF), writing clean Models, Views, and Serializers to process data.
  • Authentication & Security: Implementing secure registration and login workflows using JSON Web Tokens (JWT) or session cookies. They will write logic for password hashing (using bcrypt), user authorization, and preventing common security flaws like CORS errors.

DevOps, Testing & Deployment

  • API Testing: Using tools like Postman or Insomnia to rigorously test all backend endpoints before connecting them to the React frontend.
  • Deployment & Cloud Hosting: Setting up environment variables (.env files) to protect API keys and database credentials, and deploying the complete application to cloud platforms (such as Vercel/Netlify for React, and Render, AWS, or Railway for the backend and database).
  • Version Control: Managing the codebase systematically using Git and GitHub, handling feature branches, commits, and pull requests.
